Brazil is an amazing country. The country seems to have unlimited natural resources. The economic mavens call Brazil an emerging country, and that is an understatement. Even though Brazil has had export challenges, the country still plays a vital role in the worldwide marketplace.
Without Brazil’s natural resources and company made products, countries like China, Germany, and the United States would suffer economically. Brazil gold, iron ore, nickel, magnesium, platinum, tin, timber, hydropower, and petroleum help the world in so many ways. Brazilian companies produce products from these natural resources, and those products help businesses around the world compete on the domestic and international economic stage. One of those Brazilian companies is, Eucatex. Eucatex is one of the leaders in the building material supply industry.
Eucatex was founded in 1951. The Maluf family had a sawmill in the state of Sao Paulo, and, in 1954, Eucatex opened a fiberboard factory. That was the beginning of a manufacturing story that is still being written. Flavio Maluf is the CEO of Eucatex. Flavio took control of the company in 1997, after working for the company for ten years. Maluf studied at New York University before he returned to Brazil to work in the family business. Flavio is considered an entrepreneur, and an environmentalist. Flavio is known for his environmental initiatives. His “House of Nature” environmental education program is teaching Brazilians about the natural resources that make the country such a treasure on the world market. Maluf is one of the leaders in the clean air movement, and the movement to replace fossil fuel from the manufacturing sector.
Today, Eucatex has four factories, and four offices in Brazil. The company has sales offices in the United States and Germany. Eucatex exports floorboards, paint, doors, varnishes, ceiling tiles, and other products to 37 countries. The company also leases thousands of acres, so eucalyptus trees can grow. Eucatex plants Eucalyptus seeds in order to replace the trees the company uses to produce some of their products.
Flavio Maluf is often asked to speak about his environmental initiatives. He travels around Brazil, and he is also invited to speak in other countries.
