Helane Morrison saw an opportunity. She saw an opportunity to help rebuild the trust that the general public has in investment professionals and in the stock market in general. This is all started in 2007 with the collapse of the housing market. This singular event, that was the apex of a slow-build created by shady lending practices by banks in the real estate market, was the impetus for change that caused her to make the transition from an employee of the SEC to the Managing Direct and Chief Compliance Officer of Hall Capital Partners LLC. She started working in the private sector again because she saw people losing trust in investment professionals and the market overall. Helane Morrison wanted to change this tone to help revive the market and people’s activity within it.

She chose Hall Capital Partners for two obvious reasons. The first reason is that the San Francisco-based investment firm is one of the most successful firms in the State of California. The second reason is that it is completely run by women. She is so widely trusted by the public and by the clients of her firm because of her long history working towards compliance when it comes to the regulations of the Securities Exchange Committee. She has worked in almost every capacity when it comes to the financial sector of Northern California.

After getting her Journalism degree from Northwestern and her law degree from Berkley, she began working as a lawyer in San Francisco defending people that were being sued by the SEC. Her education came in very handy in helping her acquire information and applying it to her particular cases. She built a wealth of knowledge when it came to economic regulations. The SEC recognized this and hired her to work as a District Administrator in their San Francisco office. She then worked her way to Regional Director of the San Francisco office. This position oversees the SEC in California and 5 other states in the Pacific Northwest.

Helane Morrison has made a long and successful career out of enforcing the regulations put forth by the SEC. She has dedicated her life to ensuring that the investors and lenders in California and surrounding states are working ethically. The general public is better off financially because of the work that Morrison has done over the course of her career. She is now using her experience and knowledge to help investors trust the market again by guiding them through their investing and ensuring that her firm is compliant with all SEC regulations.

Hall Capital ranks among the largest investment firms in Bay Area, San Francisco. Its asset portfolio is valued at more than 24 billion dollars, which is quite impressive. In as much as its success might be hinged on strong returns, the firm’s CEO Kathryn Hall thinks that it is the diversity of gender, education and backgrounds that drives the firm forward. These qualities are what have kept the company on a profit path for years.

Since its formation in 1991, Hall Capital has managed the assets of many successful families in Bay Area. As part of the firm’s gender diversity efforts, it has three women at the helm. These are Hall who is the co-chief investment officer, Sarah Stein who is the President and Helane Morrison who is the managing director. She also serves as the company’s overall counsel and compliance officer. Morrison concedes that such a management setup is attractive to women. During the firm’s meetings, female employees do not feel isolated.

Hall Capital has been on the forefront in offering liability, reliability and regulatory compliance on behalf of its clients. These are pertinent components in the financial services industry. Maintaining the trust of employees and clients is of utmost importance to any firm within the industry. Hall Capital allows flexibility at the workplace. It similarly encourages behaviors and attitudes that fortify core values of the firm. Ever since we were a few years old, we have had people telling us that we have to follow the rules. They say we have to fit in and be excepted by society and follow all the rules without breaking them. That does work for awhile and shortly after, as we start to grow, we want to break free from those rules and express our own unique style and personal freedom. That is when we start breaking all the rules.

Speaking of rules, did you know there are rules in every industry that experts will argue need to be followed and can’t be broken? Let’s talk about makeup and fashion. These two places have rules and people say that these rules are set in stone. Well, that might be true unless you are the CEO of Lime Crime and have a name like Doe Deere.

Doe Deere started the makeup company Lime Crime with a dream and some pocket money. It was a real business start up success story. Lime Crime gave the makeup wearers what they wanted, more color and personal freedom. Doe calls herself Queen of the unicorns and as such she has a name to live up to. If you haven’t guessed, Doe Deere is not just a rule breaker, she is a rule creator.

Doe Deere says that you do not have to dress your age. Doe talks about the ability to blend rocking bold colors, patterns and fashion regardless of your age. Doe encourages you to not be utterly specific with your occasional dress and more. Doe opened up in an article to Bustle and she is talking about all of these things and more. Doe Deere even talks about socks and open toed shows and how it is okay to wear them together.

Above all else, Doe Deere has one underlying thought and that very thought is the center for Lime Crime Makeup’s success. However, it is more than that. This idea or thought should be the center of every person’s life. The thought is, put simply, express yourself and be you. That’s what Lime Crime Makeup is about. That is what Doe Deere is about. Being who you are, because after all, who else could you be?
